The Abstaining Health Club


This health club is at Mukono Hillside College, a secondary school very close to the Kyetume CBHC resource center.

 

MISSION STATEMENT:

Learning best health practices and promoting them in the school and surrounding community.

 

GOAL:

To empower young people and equip them with health knowledge and life skills that they can use in their daily lives and in the years to come.

 

OBJECTIVES:

To create awareness on the major health issues and how an individual or group can deal with them.

To emphasis morality in all aspects of the young peoples lives.

To come up with a community of young people responsive of their needs and demands.

To encourage young people to act as change actors in their communities and beyond through charity work.

To host and attend activities in the school and surrounding community so the knowledge gained can be shared.

To take active steps towards improving the health of all members in the community.

Meetings will be held on Mondays from 4:40 to 5:30

 

Topics addressed for the second term in 2009 included polygamy, drug abuse, and improper uses of sex.  The health club has one outing planned where they will perform a MDD at Kyetume’s Health Centre on July 26th.
