Orphan Support Programmes
Kyetume
Community Based Health Care Programme is undertaking many projects to improve the livelihoods of so many under-served
people in our areas of operation and we are currently improving
the lives of Orphans and Vulnerable children as well as
their immediate families through our different orphan support projects including: NOSP-2 Heifer Project supported by the Stephen Lewis Foundation and the new SCORE project.
The NOSP Heifer Project

The NOSP has registered many success stories since its inception in Kyetume CBHC Programme as highlighted in our Success stories. The project has greatly improved the lives of many orphans with an inspiring story from one Sarah of Seeta-Nazigo who has been able to construct a brick house from selling milk and also look after the orphans in her care.
Microfinance Project
This project aims at improving the well being of PMTCT mothers in our areas of operation. The project supported by SEGAL Family Foundation enables PMTCT mothers to access loans for starting income generating businesses to be able to improve on their welfare as well as cultivate a saving culture for their sustainability. The beneficiaries have been able to start: retail shops, piggery units, brick making and tailoring units. You can read about more of this in our July issue of the Newsletter.
Hard to Reach
The Hard to Reach project aims to support hard-to-reach communities which include: Commercial Sex workers and fish folks within Katosi landing site, Nakisunga and Ntenjeru subcounties, and Mukono District as a whole.
The project supported by Oxfam-Novib involves:
- mobilisation of the hard-to-reach to access health services and rights protection
- sensitizing the hard-to reach on the prevention of transmission of HIV/AIDS and Sexually Trasmitted Diseases
- Establishment of a one-stop-centre for voluntary Counseling and Condom distribution to the Commercial sex workers and Fish folks as well other community members.
- Training them in developmental skills like: tailoring, weaving and hair dressing.

HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control
Kyetume CBHC Programme with support from Inter-Religious Council of Uganda continues to care and support the HIV infected and affected people through provision of ART & Palliative care as well as TB Management at our Health Centre in Kyetume. We advocate for recognition, protection and provision of quality health care as a fundamental human right and the reduction of further transmission of HIV & AIDS to enhance the psychological and social adjustment of those already infected and affected.
Sexual Reproductive Health / PAC
Sexual Reproductive Health / PAC is supported by IPPF/ SAAF and aims at improving the sexual reproductive health of people by providing free Family planning services and Emergency post abortion care services to all women who have abortion related complications.
We also involve students in upper secondary sections by starting health clubs in schools to educate the students on Reproductive health and the dangers of bad sexual behavior mainly through showing them educative films and participating in focused group discussions to write down their views.
